HOW I WORK
I am able to provide architectural design and consulting services for both large and small projects, I am committed to design excellence that also functions well. My clients are usually looking to:
· Improve their working or living environment
· Translate their design goals/wants/needs into reality
· Have someone guide them through the entire design and construction process
Typically, I coordinate the overall project based on an agreed upon scope of work for a lump sum fee. Generally, a partial retainer is requested upon starting work. If the scope is not clear, an hourly fee with a pre-determined not-to-exceed amount. My responsibilities could include design, client meetings, conceptual design to construction documents, bid review, permit assistance and construction administration and management, if necessary. If the project is truly large in scale I can assemble a team of professionals specific to your needs which might include:
· Interior designers
· Contractors
· Environmental Engineers
· Mechanical and Plumbing Engineers
· Electrical Engineers
· Fire Protection Engineers
· Structural Engineers
· Civil Engineers
· Specifications Writers
Prior to starting the construction phase, I would suggest that we establish who the contractor or construction management company is along with a preliminary budget for the project to facilitate a seamless transition into construction. I would encourage this route to bypass some challenges that are encountered with a traditional design-bid-build scenario. Due to increased costs and high stakes typically associated with design and construction projects, every effort should be made to minimize conflicts and establish good lines of communication that will make your next project a successful one.
